Journal
Over the past term I have been attending creative exhibitions, productions etc. this has really helped my understanding of the broad variety that is available to us as an audience.
To enable us as designers to progress through out our careers, it imperative (I feel) to be able to examine others work and to critique the quality of it, negative and positive. Only then will you learn to know what works and what doesn’t work within the articular contexts that you are working in As someone who’s path way is leaning towards costume and set design within film and stage, I concentrated not just on exploring those things but thought to push the boat out and explore things that may not seem obvious to look at.
Not only has this module helped my to critique others work but it has taught me to go out and watch things, find things interesting to go and see and don’t limit yourself to your comfort zone.
Something interesting about this module has been that even though I have been drawn to things that I love like theatre productions, some things I went to, like Bletchley park give me more to write about because I’m not lost in the shallowness of just liking something.
The next 3 posts I have highlighted for inspiring me the most within this journey.
The exorcist- because it was a new production that I had never seen before
Bletchley park- because it was something out of my comfort zone
Fantastic beasts and where to find them – because it was one of those ’I love it’ films so I wanted to challenge myself to why.
